Accessibility has always been one of the main goals of the work we do at CalEarth. In 2009 we launched a set of international workshop initiatives to bring this work to people around the world who are unable to make the long trek to California.
In September, CalEarth and Vide Terra hosted an 8-day SuperAdobe workshop. This intensive course provided the theoretical and practical tools needed to build a dome using the SuperAdobe technique. Attendees also learned how to design a dome, practical techniques for analyzing earth composition, waterproofing and more!
This 10' dome was donated to the Antiviolence Center for Women of Paterno, Calabro. It will be used as a gathering space for survivors of violence and also offered to women who wish to breastfeed and change their babies.
Big THANK YOU to Davide Frasca for running this incredible workshop!
